§05.5Fund-Side Investment Vectors
| Vector | Candidate names | Catalyst | Timing | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compute-adjacent equity | Nscale · Verne Global · Crusoe · atNorth (all private) | Atvinnustefna + 15 MW + Nvidia Blackwell commitment | Active2026–2027 build cycle. Secondary-market entry during private rounds; sizing around any IPO signal. | Private-market illiquidity. Concentration in single build phase. |
| Energy infra exposed to DC load | Landsvirkjun (state) · HS Orka · ON Power | Rising baseload demand from data-centre cluster. Green-premium monetisation. | Monitor2026–2028. Watchlist positions; trigger on any structural load-agreement filing. | Regulatory rate-setting. Policy drift on exports. |
| Icelandic AI compliance / vertical | Lucinity ($9.6M rev 2024, 81% YoY) · parallel AML/RegTech plays | EU AI Act implementation via EEA. Atvinnustefna operationalisation. | SignalPosition on next round or IPO signal. | Single-vendor concentration. Vertical-SaaS TAM ceiling. |
| Language-tech infrastructure | Miðeind · indirect via OpenAI partnerships routing through Iceland | gervigreindarfullveldi pillar makes language-sovereignty funded. | Feed2026–2027 — watch grant awards + procurement feeds. | Small TAM. Public-funding dependent. |
| Sovereign-partnership allocations (strategic, not return-maximising) | Direct co-investment alongside Icelandic state or PPP-funded by Atvinnustefna | Relationship-building for Viska domicile. Policy credibility. | OngoingFrom Q3 2026. | Lower return profile. Justified by strategic optionality. |
This table is a starting framework. Full diligence per vector on request.
§05.6Why This Matters For Viska Specifically
Regulatory
Viska operates under Act 45/2020 (Icelandic AIFM). Atvinnustefna makes AI adoption in financial services encouraged, not merely tolerated. First movers are ahead of EU AI Act retrofitting pressure.
Timing
Iceland's tech-talent gap exceeds 1,000 professionals. Emigration to OECD +4% in 2023 (~2,300 people). Firms adopting AI augmentation now compete against a thinner labour market, not a thicker one.
Narrative
An LP in 2027 evaluating Viska sees: world's cheapest, cleanest compute; renewable-energy AI infra; governance ahead of EU AI Act; 12+ months of AI-augmented track record; full code ownership, no vendor dependency. A story no fund outside Iceland can tell.
Timing asymmetry, not a policy endorsement.
